Ira Hapner longtime Benton township resident and member of the county council died this morning at 1 20 at his home two and a half miles southeast of Benton after years of lung illness. He was 56, born in Benton township, survived by his wife and son Blarry 19, a brother Two Hapner of Syracuse and a sister Mrs Daniel Ott of Benton. Funeral Sunday at 11 am Solomon's Creek church with Rev. W H Rittenhouse officiating. Burial in Solomon's Creek cemetery.

Elkart businessman Daniel Weiser dies after Lake Shore train incident
Daniel Weiser of Elkhar t died at Epworth Hospital in South Bend after being hit by a west bound Lake Shore train while crawling under a crossing gate on Michigan Street. Witnesses say he moved into the path of the speeding west bound train as he attempted to avoid an east bound train. Weiser, in his 60s, was associated with Weis ser & Son and had traveled to South Bend to deal with Indiana Lumber. His wife and sons were with him when he expired last night.

W H Miller 27 a Ringling Bros attache from Chicago was severely injured when he fell from Lake Shore No 20 as the train arrived at Elkhart and was run over. He had both legs amputated at Clark hospital and medical staff fear for his life.
