Van Buren Bennett a junk dealer was arrested Saturday night in Goshen on telegrams from Buckeye state marshals and held for arrival of Ohio officers. He is about 34, has no fixed residence, and is suspected in copper wire thefts. he says he cannot explain his detention.

Child and mother rescued after fall into stream near Warsaw
A 3-year-old child of Mrs. O M Graves fell into a swollen stream by the Warsaw area farm. The mother plunged after the infant, both swept downstream but managed to reach the shore and recover consciousness an hour later. Both children recovered and are out of danger. A high wind and March's arrival are noted along with a near fire scare last night.
McDowell Granted Change of Venue for Embezzlement Charge
Joseph J. G. McDowell was arraigned in the mayor's court on embezzlement charges. He asked for a venue change which was granted and the case was sent to Justice Weesner. McDowell, recently arrested in Elkhart, is the defendant.

Mud-boat obstruction causes Big Four collision near Marion
The Big Four passenger train due at 4 32 p m Saturday struck a mud boat loaded with tile stranded at a crossing between Marion and Fox Station. Engineer Joliff failed to stop in time. Farmer Prickett drove the horse attached to the mud boat and suffered severe cuts to both hands as tile flew across the track.

Counterfeit Money Found Near LaPorte Tracks
Sixty one dollars of splendidly executed counterfeit money was found near the Lake Shore tracks in LaPorte. It is supposed they were thrown from a Lake Shore train by a man pursued by an officer of the law. Julius Conitz of Wanatah has filed a voluntary bankruptcy petition with assets of 75 000 and liabilities of 45 000. He will appear before Referee Lambert at South Bend.
