TWO MIDDLEBURY MEN FIGHT IN POST OFFICE
In Middlebury this morning attorney Matt Hoover and editor Eldridge clashed in the post office. Hoover struck with a cane as Eldridge entered, Eldridge warded off the blow and retaliated, and a crowd of morning mail seekers separated them. No one was hurt. Relations between the men have long been tense, with Eldridge using his paper to attack Hoover over Hoover's possible move to Michigan.

In Goshen circuit court Thomas M. Whiteman sued Mrs. Mary Tutt Moorehead and Albert H. Cushing over the estate of George Moorehead, a South Bend dry goods merchant. The suit was dismissed with a compromise giving Mrs Moorehead about half the estate, around $11 000, and the nieces and nephews the other half.
