Reports from Chicago to Tennessee describe a deadly wind storm sweeping the region. The tally nears 40 dead with hundreds injured and millions in damage as communications fail and towns like Pinson and Taunburg suffer the hardest losses. Recovery and relief efforts spread nationwide.
A strong weekend storm swept across Michigan damaging small buildings in several districts. No fatalities were reported. Grand Rapids reports wire damage and western Michigan faced outages. Saginaw area damage estimated at 500000 dollars with central parts sustaining severe impacts.
Ohio communities reel from a recent high wind storm that killed two people. Four year old James Baker was struck and decapitated by a street car in Steubenville. Ira Frehelman died in Massillon as lines and buildings were damaged statewide.
Reports today say high winds over Sunday and Monday damaged property across Indiana by about 1 million dollars. Several people were injured lightly but no fatalities occurred. Public utilities suffered heavy losses as interurban, telephone, and telegraph lines went down. service continued on page eight.
A Heater dispatch from Helsingfors reports Premier Lenine of Soviet Russia suffered an apoplectic seizure yesterday. The message says his condition is serious. A Moscow dispatch from March 7 claimed Lenine’s health was gradually improving after exhaustion following last summer illness.
Chicago March 13 Only closing arguments remained in the Mrs. Tillie Klimek trial for the alleged murder of her third husband Frank Kupczyk and conspiracy to murder in the deaths of two other husbands and a relative. The case was expected to reach the jury late July.
Lyle Humble of South Bend was arrested on Elkfart Saturday night after he led police on a speeding chase. His car struck four boys riding bicycles but caused no serious injuries. Humble faced charges of speeding.
In St Joseph Michigan March 13 the Foster Chicago defendant charged with criminal anarchism faces a probable completion of a tentative jury. Frank P Walsh chief counsel reviews the tender as the court adjourned last night. Prosecution says the panel may be moved to Bridgeman 70 miles away where Foster and 74 others allegedly met last fall to backbone the Communist Party national convention.
March 13 Virden reports urge state authorities to investigate the mysterious case of Father John A Vraniak a priest of Virden who vanished during a business trip police admit no clues but theorize a feud or voluntary disappearance as the cause prompting renewed search efforts.
Fort Wayne August? Fort Wayne man F. Henry Suedhof 16 was fatally injured Saturday when struck by an automobile driven by Clement Millar. Suedhof died soon after at St. Joseph's hospital. He came to America from Hanover Germany at age 16 and lived in Fort Wayne for over 60 years.
Heavy rain and runoff cause the Elkhart River and Rock Run creek to overflow their banks. Floodwaters cover lowlands including City Park, with continued rise expected as the area deals with ongoing rainfall.
Mrs Sadie Booth of Pocatello Idaho formerly of Goshen died today in a hospital in Pocatello of pneumonia. Surviving are her mother Mrs Charles Cotherman a sister Mrs W B Leas and three brothers Moses Frank and Dr M Cotherman all of Goshen.
Charles F. Kelly died at his home Saturday afternoon. He left a will and carried some life insurance.

A thief or thieves entered the meat market conducted by Frank W. Kinzie in South Bend and stole the cash register containing about $200 in bills while Kinzie was in a nearby barber shop.
Dan W. Simms, candidate for the Democratic nomination for U S senator in 1922, is seriously ill at his Lafayette home after ten days of influenza, according to his physician.

Francis Sweeny pleaded guilty to rape in circuit court. Judge James Drake fined him 100 dollars and sentenced him to the state reformatory at Jeffersonville for five to twenty one years. He will be taken away tomorrow. The affidavit states he attacked Nellie Miller, 13, daughter of Isaiah Miller.
Miss Virginia Ruse a 19 year old pianist from Warsaw was ill with the flu and could not travel to Goshen for a 3 pm recital at First M church. An emergency program proceeded with Mrs. Harry Greene and Mrs. L Walter, John Thut, and Beulah Kreider, raising about 17 to 18 dollars for foreign missions.
Michael Creevy and Henry Keenan, republicans, were executed after a bank raid at Oldcastle. Convicted of possessing arms and a large sum of money, Creevy led the Irregulars. London reports ongoing Irish raid fears amid secret service vigilance.
Four men were executed in Cork today for a session of arins. James Tayle Patrick Hogan and John Crergé were among those carried out.
Chicago report notes the Logan Square Trust & Savings bank remains closed under a receiver after president Fred W. Popp's death. Chief examiner H S Savage estimates about 400 000 will be needed to settle affairs, including 175 000 in cash. The Lincoln Highway marks a decade of progress as it evolved from a vision into a major national route. Between 1913 and 1923 more than 47 million dollars was spent on improvements, with two thirds of the route completed and annual work continuing.
