Fire damages Pike Street School roof in morning blaze
Sparks from the chimney set the Pike Street School roof on fire around nine o’clock. Flames burned a five foot square hole. approximately 300 dollars in damage. Insurance covered the loss. Pupils exited safely in under a minute amid a drill-like alarm. The fire department used chemical extinguishers, claiming better effectiveness than water.
