Pioneer Davis Dies at 89 in Elkhart City
Russell Davis, 89, longtime Elkhart resident and one of seven pioneers who left Elkhart in 1849 for overland gold search, died at his home at 4 30 this morning. He located in Elkhart in 1844 and was brother to Capt. T F Davis who recruited a Civil War company. His wife died 12 years ago. He is survived by two brothers and one sister.
