Sheriff Elliott arrested Robert Johnson aged 50 in Bungay's saloon and he is to be taken to Kalamazoo. He had stolen $25 from Kalamazoo authorities after a Michigan crime. A 14 year old runaway from Mishawaka's orphan home was captured in Elkhart after sleeping in a barn and buying cheese and crackers. He admitted his identity and was sent back to Mishawaka. Also in Elkhart Edward Sums drank heavily, fell on an icy sidewalk, and paid a $10.50 fine for intoxication. Melvin Johnson faced another jail term for ten days of rock pounding after a drinking spree. The Monument saloon building was torn down for a new three story structure. A depot hotel hackman paid $10 for damage after returning a trunk belonging to Drummer Sears.

Anaron Stutsman, about 76, died at 5 a m at his sister’s home three miles east of Goshen of pneumonia after a three week illness. A Civil War veteran long known in the county, he will be buried from the Amish Mennonite church Saturday at 2 p m, with the funeral leaving the house at 1 p m. Rev D J Jobes to deliver the sermon.
