Police expect an arrest soon over the attempted recovery at the Misses Thomas and Heerner home Monday night. Charles Dalka son of Mr and Mrs Edward Dalka of South Ninth street traveled to Ann Arbor Monday to undergo an operation at the university to remove a permanent abscess from the right lung. He will endure weeks of treatment before the procedure and was accompanied by Rev C E Cressler. Doctors say he cannot long survive without this operation.
The South Bend Retail Merchants' Association passes resolutions urging a strike on Indiana Railway Company fines and asks unions to join. Prof. J. W. Bremer of Goshen high school faculty is named choir director at the First Presbyterian church in Elkhart and will assume duties around April 12. Bremer is an accomplished musician and the congregation is congratulated on securing his services.
At a meeting last night funds were arranged to move the Davenport central station of the Farmers' Mutual Telephone company to Millersburg where connection will be made with the Home Telephone exchange in this city. The lines of the entire company will be maintained out of a general land.

Harvey Johnson aged about 30 years, formerly of Elkhart, drank a large quantity of carbolic acid at his rooming place in South Bend. He lived in South Bend for months, worked at the Singer factory, and is described as a single man. The motive remains unclear though several probable reasons are offered. He was thought to be near death within hours.
