With three days left in the 69th session the Indiana Senate approved the Jones direct primary bill after caucus amendment. The measure, advancing amid Democratic contention, would limit direct elections to officers from Congress down, as the House handled related mediation and suffrage actions.

The conference, praised as highly successful, sets Auburn as the site for the next Northern Indiana M E gathering beginning April 6 with anticipated pastor assignments for Goshen churches.

Mrs. Mary E. Coup of Dowagine Michigan died at noon during a visit to Goshen. She attended her niece’s funeral, became ill at the Hale home, and erysipelas developed. Survived by brother Robert Johnson and son William H. Coup. husband predeceased her. Remains to be buried in Dowagine with funeral there.
In Nappanee Hospital John Smeltzer, injured at Coppes Bros. Zook factory six weeks ago, is in Price hospital after finger amputation. Harvey Sutley is also at Price hospital, his hand injured by contact with a planet at the same factory.
