Ward Huss known as Poulsen in La Grange was found guilty by a jury of selling a half pint of whiskey to John Craft. Huss claimed prescription from Dr Shrock and whiskey from J F Thomas and that Craft took the bottle without permission. Jury rejected his story and he paid a $25 fine plus costs.

Train collision damages Lake Shore Twenty Century flyer
A west bound freight train at about 40 mph collided with the Lake Shore Twenty Century flyer west of Millersburg. An open freight car door swung out striking every car, breaking handles and a large pane in the observation car. Melvin Deardorff, about 40, formerly of Goshen and a carriage trimmer, died at his brother Allan Deardoff’s home in Carthage Missouri after a bout with consumption. His body will arrive on the Lake Shore at 1 41 Sunday and be taken to the home of his sister Mrs John Swartz six miles southeast of Goshen for funeral services at 10 a m Monday. He left Goshen about twelve years ago and was once married to Mayte Barber of Goshen now living in Fort Wayne. He owned property at Seventh and Douglas streets.
