Farmer Harvey Mowery Attacked By Constable’s Cane
Harvey Mowery living on the Kane farm north of town was arrested Saturday afternoon by Constable Heath on South Main street. He pleaded guilty in Justice Whisler's court to an assault and battery with Will J. Wilden as complainant, fined $11. Mowery was struck with the constable's cane before entering the justice office, suffering a deep head gash and profuse bleeding. A suit for damages is planned against Constable Heath on his bond.

Poisonous pop bottle death in Elkhart man
William Shriner 58 died from blood poisoning after cutting his hand on a sharp pop bottle neck. One finger was amputated and his hand was removed. He died in Clark hospital Sunday. Survived by wife two daughters and siblings all of Elwood and nearby areas.
