Death of William McDowell At Age 72 In Goshen Home
William McDowell aged 72 years 11 months 23 days died this morning at his South Ninth Street home from heart failure. He collapsed at 6 o'clock while preparing to light a fire. Dr Kreider could not revive him. He leaves a wife and two sons Elmer E of Goshen and Arthur of Chicago. Born in New York in 1829 he moved to Indiana in the 1850s, lived in Greencastle and New Paris before settling in Goshen twenty years ago and working as a carpenter.

Vera Hoops daughter of Mrs Sanford Bigge died May 31 in Columbia City from tuberculosis. Formerly of South Tenth street she left many friends in the city and was a niece of Earl Haney. Survived by mother and two sisters Gracie Hoops and Cora Biggs. Also Mary Cope-Spicer aged 47 died in Elkhart today of cancer. Survived by mother four daughters and one sister.

The Goshen Telephone exchange has cut off Davenport lines serving about 200 phones in Clinton township. The Davenport company, under a 10 year contract signed two years ago for $150, is dissatisfied. Farmers have held meetings as talks of a lawsuit arise.
