New York reports the failure of Hooly & Co., a Wall Street firm, announced today amid intense market excitement and investor concern.
Theodore Adams a well known resident on East Washington Street fell on the sidewalk near Washington and Main, fracturing his left femur. Doctors reduced the fracture and he remains seriously ill though resting after the operation. Local notices include charity events and changes in local businesses and residents’ movements.
A Century Street car in Goshen struck Harvey Wambaugh’s milk wagon killing one horse and injuring another. Ed ward Foster a New York broker pursuing the car race reached Elkhart and Bryan after connections to catch the Century. He later returned to New York for the stock market opening. The incident prompted a damages claim against Wambaugh.
Mrs J 33 Andrews hosts ecards at her Shoreday gathering 401 East Lincoln Avenue. Miss Alice Poyser treats guests to cards at 25 South Main Street in honor of Miss Mable Rogers of Seattle. Goshen youths plan lake outings. Johnny Sutherlin entertained sixty guests with a gramophone set at belonging address on South Tenth Street with new records.

A horse tethered near Court Park broke free in Goshen after its bridle was torn by flies. The animal slipped on Clinton Street, fell, and broke its left foreleg requiring euthanasia by Dr. Armour. Church members later raised about $20 for Mr. Hess.
John Sharp, a Kosciusko county farmer four miles west of Milford, is jailed on charges of obtaining money under false pretense. He contracted November 28, 1802 to buy John C. Wiggins pony saloon for 500 dollars, paid part cash, and gave a note for the rest. He claimed 10 acres free of encumbrance but two mortgages totaling 700 dollars existed and Sharp deeded it to his wife after demand for payment. He posted 3300 bond for August 20 appearance. Jacob McLaughlin represents him. The Wiggins saloon is now closed.
A New York dispatch reports prominent Englishmen will visit South Bend and other major American cities to study modern electric street and interurban railway systems. They will focus on electric traction, sleeping cars, and interurban routes, with local officials aiding the visit. The South Bend News notes work on electric connections and surface grading, predicting electric cars soon running Indianapolis to Peru.

In Yonkers New York Barney Oldfield established a mile record of 53 45 seconds on a circular track with splits 15 and 28 seconds for quarters and halves. The feat surpassed the previous mark of 1 42 5 and his own 36 25 at Columbus.
Milford residents report strong crowds at Saturday gatherings and band concerts. A local excursion to Benton Harbor netted about fifty dollars while Milford fans claim they outnumber other towns in size. Several local residents traveled to Warsaw and Syracuse for business and events this week.
