Citizens press for a night school at the central Goshen school building to aid workers and others seeking education. A state law requires boards in towns over 3,000 to open sessions 7 to 9 30 p m if twenty or more eligible residents petition. The board has debated this, awaiting public signatures to guide action.

George Ayers, convicted of manslaughter in Elkhart County, arrives in Goshen on parole after serving a year at Jeffersonville reformatory. His release followed pressure from relative Lucy Dietz and local officials. Also noted are potential paroles for Jacob Smith and Harry Wilson, and local social notices including a stag party for Will Caffrey and a Wawasee excursion by the Marion Owl club.

James Ryland, a well known Noble county resident, was found dead in bed at his Allen Township home four miles southwest of Kendallville yesterday morning. No prior health concerns were noted by his family, who said he retired as usual. DeWitt Benedict a county farm inmate aged about 44 died after consuming paris green last night or early today. Supt McFillen found the body at 5 30 this morning after conversing with Benedict at 10 o'clock last night. Coroner Eisenheiss ordered an inquest. Benedict had a long infirmary history and epilepsy, was penniless, with a half brother Joseph Benedict in Elkhart. Funeral Saturday at 2 pm on the farm.
Swindlers collected thousands in Michigan for a hedge fence scheme sold about two decades ago. Farmers were to pay in four installments and plant the fence. the company failed and many fences were removed. Notes now reappear in the hands of speculators threatening court action to collect on outlawed deals. Marshall county treasurer Wa O Keefe introduces a novel plan to lock county funds in safe banks and return interest to taxpayers. He states no private use or loans and notes earning 2 percent interest over six months totaling $700.26 deposited to the county fund.
The fourth anniversary observance at the Goshen Lodge hall in McNaughton building featured a smoker with games music and oratory.
