Delos N. Weaver's son sues in circuit court to contest payment from the estate of his late father, Elkhart resident Nicholas Weaver. The claim totals 5008.50 with 6 percent interest, stemming from mortgage and tax titles dating back to 1886, amid possible opposition from widow and siblings. The estate is valued at 10 000 to 14 000, and litigation likely if administrator denies the claim.
The weekly weather bureau bulletin shows wind and rain across most counties with light showers and cool temperatures. Wheat and timothy yields are steady while oats near completion. corn color is good but growth is slow. vegetables suffer from cold and dry conditions. apples light but early. blackberries abundant. nutmeg melon and watermelon crops progressing in southern and central counties.
J. A. Evverett president of the American Society of Equity issues a call to farmers to store wheat awaiting the $1 mark. The message targets Kansas farmers and will be mailed to those growing wheat.
The son of a Whitley County farmer has confessed to writing and mailing eight blackmail letters to H P Kaler superintendent of the Harper Baggy Company in Columbia City. He says he acted alone to obtain money to leave home and details a written confession outlining the threats to blow up the factory if funds were not delivered under a railroad bridge.
Telegram received today by A Yates announced the death of Mrs Nora Koontz Blue at Lincoln Nebraska. Former Goshen resident and daughter of Oscar and Mrs Koontz once of North Main Street. Her husband died four years ago and she leaves a son about four. No details of death known.
In Laporte a marriage is announced between Wayne Tilt, former Goshen resident and son of Mrs. Jane Tilt, and Mise Olive Elizabeth Spencer of the "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" company. The couple’s engagement follows a Laporte meeting. Tilt is a well remembered local youth.
The county assessor plans an August levy on delinquent personal property taxes. Taxpayers who postponed office visits in the court house have nine days to make the formal call. Newspaperman Goes To Rome Fred W. Wile, son of Rabbi Wie of Laporte and Notre Dame graduate, will depart for Rome to cover the Pope funeral for a Chicago newspaper. Extend Thanks. Mr and Mrs Summey express heartfelt thanks to those who aided them during the sickness and death of their daughter Maude.

At Marion yesterday, H. M. Huffman’s horse finished fifth fourth and fourth in the 2 24 trot for a $1 000 purse. Black Patchen won three heats. In the 2 25 pace, Master Riley finished thirteenth in the first heat before darkness halted the event. Best time four heats 2 10 Wantell won two heats. Elastic Pointer won the chamber of commerce stakes 2 24 pacers for $5 000, with Goshen’s delegation disappointed as no Goshen money was on the horse. In Marion a collision injured Master Riley. four horses broke in the stretch. two drivers thrown. four sulkies wrecked. driver William Rodgers of Moline seriously hurt. Bessie E seriously injured in a match race. Springer won.

Rome City cottagers faced frigid notices posted on park and station spots forbidding boating fishing and unnecessary bathing on Lorndi's day. The notices, prepared by E. H. McDonald secretary of the Ft Wayne Trust Com, drew sharp ire from the local cottage association and accused several assembly officers who signed the warning.
Walker-Lewis announces next season as the start of automobile manufacture at the Go shen plant with parts shipments first and full assembly later. Management predicts autos will stay and prices may fall to 150 to 250 dollars within six years, expanding demand beyond aristocrats.

Hitnisa John Hulbish, 56, died at 8 am at his home three miles northwest of Bristol after a three week paralysis. Survived by wife and three children. Sophia Sold, 19, died in Elkhart this morning of quick consumption while employed in a military store until her death.
Obituaries report Edward Kramer of Huntington aged 76 and Joseph Bush of Jefferson township Whitley county aged 75. Port land farmer John Henizer suffered paralysis while in his orchard. New London Old Friends church near Peru to be replaced. Kendallville druggist G H Lehman sells store and becomes oil inspector. Minnie Starbuck injured after horse bolted from fear of paper. Miss Williamson unharmed. Carrie Chapman Catt cites suffrage arguments urging support and education for the cause.
William H. Blodgett reports Goshen views show friction over Attorney General Miller seeking renomination. Republicans in Mishawaka and Elkhart oppose his duties, while some back a rival candidate. The letter notes possible bids by Plymouth senator John Varka or ex-Congressman Lem Rouse, and hints at tensions between Brick, Miller, and voting blocs in Elkhart and Kosciusko counties.
