Thomas L. Graves a Kendallville attorney and former 1848 printer bought the Goshen Democrat press known as the Serpent press for 300 dollars moved it to Warsaw to start a paper. He financed with notes and a mortgage and repaid as due. Graves later kept a debtor called Reud Williams his “devil” and eventually sold the press to Mr. Bryant who moved it to Albion.
