Mary Miller three years old fell from a South Seventh street window into a large pan of boiling starch at 4 am. Doctors reported serious burns to the head shoulders and ears but expected slow recovery. By this afternoon her condition showed some improvement though she remains in danger.

A powerful wind storm swept Goshen and nearby areas for about a quarter hour blowing corn, toppling shade trees and fences. An old barn at C B Groves was unroofed and a dozen chickens displaced. Around 12:30 p m a fire broke out in the Goshen Veneer Company dry kiln. Firefighters and water application quickly contained the blaze but caused substantial damage. Wires were damaged in last night's storm hindering early alarms. Residents on Water Street reported smoke and arrived soon after.

Robert Hamburg was arrested at Rush Street docks in Chicago after allegedly burgling Enders & Young in Benton Harbor Michigan. He allegedly packed silk worth 200 pounds and was seized before requisition papers arrived. Police believe he knows other silk robberies in the area and may aid inquiry.
