A Goshen group planned to push a proposed 25000 government hatchery at Lake Wawasee but Congressman Brick says the bill never passed Congress. He was away to attend a relative’s funeral. The next session may see action if revived.
It is understood that the long debated O'Malley Hearin case will be dropped with no prosecution. Evidence is lacking and officials indicate no charges will be filed.
Marriage licenses issued to Geo E Cline and Malinda Jane Row of Goshen, Moses Cripe of Benton and Bertha Pollock of Benton. Grace A Waite filed an affidavit against Mrs Jacob Leedy for provoke incident. Deahl & Deah prepared a pardon petition for Jacob Smith, once at Jeffersonville reform school. Frank Poyser charged with provoke. defense by Lloyd L Burris. Gen E R Niles eyed for return to Longcliff asylum. Sheriff Sewanee county alerted. plans to send him to the asylum raise security concerns.
Mrs Sarah Nathan of Hoboken visits her brother in law Rabbi Weinstein as Chicago papers report the discovery of Ethel Nathan a 16 year old kidnapped in Hoboken in August 1890. She married Nathan Bloom at Aurora under the name Ethel Green while unaware of his relation. The mother identifies her and Bloom travels to New York.
George Stein, who retired from the Chicago Fair last week, left today for Columbia City and will proceed to Pittsburg to plan his future moves possibly including a trip to Europe. In ten years in Goshen he made many friends and yesterday he made over 250 farewell calls before departing.
Charles Kohler bought three Jackson houses on Main street west of Rock Run. He rebuilt the structures, graded yards, and sodded surrounding areas. The properties now double in value and all units are rented.
Dunlaps won 13 to 5 over New Paris at Dunlaps park on Sunday afternoon. Battery for Dunlaps was Joe Erie and Peter Kirkendorfer of Goshen, with Joseph Hutchinson at short. Dunlaps next hosts Mishawaka Grays Sunday afternoon.
James Lynch of St. Louis, representing the Roth wells, states no steel means no work on the Wawasee line this year. A double track is planned for next spring, a prospect the public would welcome. Travelers from Goshen rode to Chicago with gamblers after the Fourth of July, exchanging silver winnings for bills at Northwestern station.

Successful event by Company E of the third regiment of the Indiana National Guard at Island Park Elmart on Saturday evening. The ice cream social and band concert cleared over $100. Frederick Morrice served on the company and arrangements committee and returned Sunday morning.
The Chicago Record Herald suggests the Lake Shore Twentieth Century Limited could cover the Chicago to New York run in 16 hours. If it passes here as quickly as Saturday morning, fatalities seem likely. Touring Michigan and other notes follow with mentions of Arthur Griffith and Louis Ludlow.
Jesse Spicher aged about 35 and described as demented wandered from his brother Charles Spicher's Milford home. He was struck and killed by a Benton Harbor excursion train near Milford Junction around 9 PM, his body found between the tracks and a coroner's inquest planned. He was unmarried.
A roundup of small town items including travel, accidents, marriages and local notices. Rev. C C Cissell travels to Chicago for his sister’s illness while Eddie Jackson visits Denver. A liveryman from Warsaw injured in a carriage accident and several residents involved in community, business, and civic matters are reported along with modest social news.
John Bontrager suffered a forehead gash over two inches and bruises after his horse bolted at Washington street and Eleventh, throwing him from the carriage. Dr. B. F. Whitmer treated the wound with five stitches. Bontrager, said to be under liquor, was returned home after initial care. The horse escaped injury as harness broke and the carriage-timbers were damaged.
George Thomas the druggist and Frank Vanderlip the barber paid fines after a fistfight. Mrs. Fannie K Thompson writes a lengthy letter in the Truth from Yellowstone Park. Norbert Boeckling aged seven died of typhoid Sunday after the family moved from Michigan City. Ball the Superintendent of Motive Power praises Calkins and Hollibaugh for the Century run. A Goshen boy with money aboard a car had only 40 cents when searched. Charles Rigney of Goshen along with Ed Weiss and Carl Shick of Elkhart are under arrest for attacking Bert Wilkins a colored livery employee at Simonton lake.
The LaPorte paper backs A. J. Stahl against the Democrat while opposing municipal ownership of a hot water heating plant. It argues the city should not risk entanglement in ownership, noting current finances and urging fair franchise terms with reliable outside capital.
George Ade the humorist has moved to New York and signed a contract with Henry W. Savage to write comic opera librettos exclusively for the Castle Square company until 1905. His latest work Peggy of Paris will be produced in New York. Ade, a Lafayette native, was recently pressed by Indiana papers over remarks about his home state. Next season Maude Lillian Berry will lead the female contingent in The Sultan of Sulu company.
Ada Gray the veteran actress rumored dead in New York is alive and cared for at Fordham Home For Incurables under the Actors Fund. A relative syndrome of sympathy fuels repeated death reports despite official word.
