Lawyer William Dennis Dies In Farm Fall Near Nappanee
William Henry Harrison Dennis, a noted lawyer near the Nappanee courthouse, fell from a rail fence while hunting seven miles from town in Marshall county and died from a broken neck. He left a companion to signal him with a shot before returning. He is survived by two daughters and two sons. Funeral services are set for Monday at 10 a.m. Dennis, about 62, had recent financial trouble and possible stroke-like collapse is suspected.

The Twentieth Century train, engine No. 606 driven by James Kauffman, ran 133.4 miles in 115.5 minutes after freight delays east of Cleveland. The Toledo to Elkhart run averaged about 70 mph, shaving the previous best by 7 minutes. Fast segments included 5.5 miles in three minutes and 6.7 miles in five.
