Goshen business leaders say Wabash Railway may entertain a subsidy offer of 50000 for a spur to Goshen connecting at New Paris but local officials believe financing by local capital is better. They note 10000 per mile subsidy is too costly and no immediate Goshen connection prospects exist.
A Lutheran rally on the Island in Elkhart drew about 500 people from Elkhart St Joseph and LaPorte counties, with Goshen contributing over 104. Preliminary steps organized the Tri County Lutheran League to unite Lutherans across the three counties. Rev Luther Kuhns national secretary spoke and First Lutheran Goshen provided music.

Robert Reynolds the New Paris druggist is recommended by Congressman Brick to succeed George W. Cart as postmaster of New Paris. Cart tendered his resignation months ago and the appointment is expected to follow in a few days.

George Norris a South Whitley resident was killed at the home of Sheridan Gable near Wynkoop while working with the Henry Kaler carpenter crew on a bank barn roof. He fell twenty six feet to the ground ending the accident.

Ollie Harmon a former Nappanee resident, aged 48, was killed by a car in Letonia Ohio. He had worked five years in a Letonia machine shop and was known as the only Nappanee man to wear a silk hat.
Officials say Elkhart county oats are sunburned rather than rusted. Some areas will be fair while wheat is in excellent condition and harvest begins next week.
Frank McGiness of Hau Claire died by his own action in a case described as compelled by his wife to perform housework in addition to his day's painting work. He took lauda num and died before aid could be summoned.

Neighbors rescued a seriously ill woman, wife of John C. Brichter, from their Elkhart home after Brichter, a machinist, drank heavily and disrupted the household. Frank Spring and his cousin James Spring were arraigned in the South Bend police court on a murder charge in connection with Fred Miller's fatal knife wound. Both pleaded not guilty and a preliminary hearing was set for today. prosecutors plan to show prior trouble between Miller and the Springs. James Spring was arrested yesterday as part of the inquiry, with investigators expected to argue both men were waiting for Miller after earlier altercations.
Lester Gentzhorn eleven year old son of Chas Gentzhorn nearly drowned at Lake Wawasee after stepping into water over ten feet deep. He sank twice before his father reached him and pulled him from the lake. The boy was unconscious briefly after the rescue.
About 1 500 boys from Vincennes and nearby areas plan to attend the Winona camp opening July 26. George Kelley of Fit. Wayne sues Henry C. Pressler and two Albion police for 2000 damages in Noble circuit court claiming he was arrested without a warrant and jailed for two hours while visiting his wife and children in Albion. He alleges Pressler caused the arrest to kidnap his children.
