Miss Lands Seese of Solomons Creek married Earl Dillon of New Paris last week, drawing many friends’ congratulations. Dr. A H Smith of New Paris was thrown from a carriage when his horse ran away and the buggy hit the village church corner stone. no serious damage. At Lake Shore depot in Elkhart a drunken woman with whiskey was arrested, taken to the police station.
The Order of Chosen Friends shows liabilities of 80510439 dollars with members receiving nothing. Goshen reports 11 victims Elkhart 75 and Middlebury six. David Moyer, 53, of Riverside near Benton Harbor, attempted suicide at a farm two and a half miles south of Middlebury. He cut his left arm with a pocket knife, drank laudanum, and was saved by Dr. Teeters. Mentally distressed and recently divorced, he remains under observation at the county infirmary.

The Indiana Street Railroad Company will begin extensive improvements immediately. About five miles of additional track will be laid in South Bend and two interurban lines will be built to Notre Dame and to St. Joseph via Niles.
House bill No. 273 by Mr. Mummert requires three resident freeholders in the death neighborhood to affidavit belief that circumstances require investigation before any coroner inquiry is held. The measure was referred to the judiciary committee.
The bill has been amended to apply only to Marion county and was kept alive by this change. Originally doomed to defeat, the measure survives due to the sole purpose of preserving the bill.
The Pioneer bicycle factory and Pioneer gasoline engine company in Huntington seek a new site. Proposals have come from Wabash Anderson and Fort Wayne. House bill 167 on public libraries, introduced by Mr. Mummert, goes to the libraries committee. Representative Vanfleet filed a bill on new justices of the peace. There is ample room for reform.
A well attended afternoon program at the First Baptist church featured Mozart and Beethoven works, singer solos, and piano duets by local artists. Mrs. Knox read a music history paper, and the event celebrated Goshen’s rising musical talent amid strong community support.
The H. T. C. club of Benton Harbor composed of prominent society young women held a Monday night party. Members wore male attire and paraded through streets then gathered at a member’s home for revelry described as uproarious. Local young men learned of it and escorted the dancer home after the festivities.
The senate moved a civil case verdict bill to third reading without amendment and faces possible defeat in final passage. Mrs. Griffith in court, crying as proceedings close.
Sixteen youths from Goshen area attend an oyster supper in Milford this evening. From East Las Vegas New Mexico C A Harper reports Miss Florence Harper improving in health and the family expresses great relief. John Roach of Goshen at Las Vegas is said to be prospering and in good health. Thomas Lipsett notes beneficial climatic changes and his mother Mrs Emily Lipsett works as housekeeper for a Methodist minister in Las Vegas. The Goshen colony in New Mexico grows with Will EB Gortner Robert Gortner Roy Carmien Platte Starr John Roach Mrs Lipsett and son Thomas and Mr Harper and daughter Florence joining.
Monday a stranger rang at the Chas Cline boarding house in Elkhart to arrange board. While Cline slept the intruder rifled his trousers and stole $6.45. Cline works as a conductor on the Goshen city car line, and police have no leads.
The house committee on railroads will back Rep Neal's proposal requiring rail road firms to issue 500 mile mileage books at ten dollars each. Each book may be used by the purchaser or any family member. A house passage is anticipated based on Neal's poll.
