State Convention Dates Set for Major Parties
Republican convention runs Wednesday and Thursday April 5-6 in Indianapolis. Democratic gathering follows Wednesday April 26 in Indianapolis. Progressive convention slated for Wednesday May 24 in Indianapolis.
Elkhart County Delegate Allocations For 1914 Conventions
Election officials lay out the Elkhart County apportionment of delegates to the Democratic Progressive and Republican state conventions to be held in Indianapolis. Totals: Democratic 22 delegates from precise township allocations. Progressive 19 delegates. Republican 10 delegates. Each party bases delegates on votes for specific 1914 U S senators or secretary of state, with rules for one delegate per 200 votes or fraction thereof, plus township allotments. First time Elkhart township will be represented by a Republican delegate at the state convention.

Old Goshen Resident Dies of Pneumonia at Daughter's Home
Mrs. Ellen Smith aged 69 died at her daughter Mrs. Hezekiah Clark’s home on South Ninth street after a pneumonia battle. She had lived north of Goshen 23 years and with her daughter nine years and is survived by four daughters and one sister. The Goshen community collected approximately $500 for Jewish relief to aid war sufferers. Cass County Sheriff predicts Thornburg conviction in murder case
Sheriff Reed of Cass county Michigan says Sylvester Thornburg will be convicted. Thornburg is jailed at Cassopolis charged with killing his aunt Mrs Emner Thornburg on the Thornburg farm ten miles north of Elkhart. The aunt's body was buried in Oxford Indiana and her husband has returned to Cass county to prosecute the prisoner.

The Vernon Gonder family infant, riding in a buggy hitched to a horse, came near death as the horse ran three miles from Station 18 on the C. S. B. & N. L. Happy Cal Wagner a famed minstrel dies in Syracuse
Cal Wagner aged 76, longtime favorite minstrel, died at his Syracuse home after a storied career. He performed with a company that played at the Goshen opera house in 1882 and joined Chicago lodge No. B P O in 1883 as a 32nd degree Mason. Wagner was a prominent Chicago nightlife figure in the 1880s before leaving the city about 15 years ago.

Pioneering Frederick Young laid to rest in Wakarusa
Frederick Young aged SS years and a long time resident of Wakarusa died after a long life spanning Germany to Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. He was born March 8 1882 married Eliza Ann Miller in 1853. survived by two sons, three daughters, two brothers, 24 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

Minstrel Show to Raise Funds in Syracuse
Under the EK of P, a minstrel show and play will be given in Syracuse in February directed by J. E. Batlou famed for School Days. The cast includes at least twenty local talents from Syracuse. Proceeds will benefit the K of P pledge. Band plays at night.
