Van Sickle a south city resident was attacked by three drunken companions at Ora Williamson’s saloon around 10 PM Saturday. The assailants beat him as he left then reentered with injuries including a black eye and bloody nose. He declined to name his attackers and went home to recover.

Peculiar duck bone incident endangers local woman

Brown Arrested After Saloon Disturbances in Goshen
Police arrested Harry Brown after a night of drunken boisterousness in Goshen's saloons. Death of Nathaniel Newell Noted Osowo Pioneering Democrat
Nathaniel Newell of Osowo township died at noon Saturday at his home. Born in Vermont, he moved to Elkhart county in 1835, built a large farm, and endured pioneer hardships. He married Mary Ales in 1883 and is survived by wife, son Nathaniel Jr., a dairyman, and daughter. A lifelong Democrat, he supported Jackson in 1832 and was loyal to the Union. funeral set for Monday at 2 PM at the house.
