Prisoner Robs Detective on Midnight Train
A New Castle detective transporting a Chicago prisoner east fell asleep on a Lake Shore train after removing the prisoner's handcuffs to rest. In Kendallville the prisoner robbed the detective of 35 dollars and escaped at Butler. He was recaptured in Kendallville when the detective returned on the same train from Kendallville to Chicago, having spent 16 dollars. Station hands aided by restraining him from proceeding to Fort Wayne.
