Five Die In Davies Hotel Fire At Homestead Pa
Five persons perished in a blaze that destroyed the Davies hotel in Homestead near Pittsburgh. Authorities say Mrs John Winnie two sons aged six and Katherine Davies plus owner Thomas Davies died. The fire broke out on the third floor and firemen could not save the family. The cause remains undetermined.

Freight wreck ties up New York Central trains near Ligonier
East and west bound traffic on the New York Central railroad halted for about nine hours after a rear collision east of Ligonier. Severe earthquake recorded in Washington at Georgetown
An earthquake described as very severe was recorded on the seismograph at Georgetown University Observatory in Washington.
