Judge Wilson revises action in Maude Cockran divorce case while New Paris bank robbery suspects are held in Pontiac. Illinois officers expect convictions. Baxter damage case lingers as Judge Wilson weighs next steps for the March term.
A Benton Harbor man C W Bartram is jailed on forgery charges following a check for 3280 drawn on Indiana National Bank Elkhart. W J Kies of Elkhart identified Bartram from a county jail lineup as the man who used the check to obtain clothing and goods. Bartram allegedly signed as M M Rogen on that fraudulent instrument and claimed innocence.
Goshen Republicans sent a small delegation to the Plymouth district convention as Elmer Crockett of South Bend was re elected district chairman. Elkhart county pledged support for James S. Dodge for governor with the aim of a solid regional delegation. L. W. Rouse served as convention chairman.
Jacob Garringer was severely injured when he fell to the pavement on Main Street this morning striking his head and face. Milford plans a Presbyterian church society with a meeting to organize tomorrow evening in that town.
Seventy five Goshen Tent No. 4 Maccabees members rode a special interurban car to South Bend to witness the installation of officers and the awarding of a banner to South Bend’s largest tent, South Kent Tent No. 4, which reported 432 members as of Jan 1 1906. Prominent speakers included J W Repiogie Dr A J Irwin and Milo O Meredith. the trip departed South Bend at 6 30 and arrived near 8 pm.
Itiave reports a Goshen lady in the Castle Square opera company at the Studebaker theater Chicago has sung in the chorus sixty days and her voice is said to be in excellent condition and worthy of cultivation. Interest grows as Castle Square is booked for South Bend before the season ends.
Rev Anda leads a reorganized bible class with membership nearing fifty. The group aims to raise funds this year to wipe out the church debt and fund extensive improvements to church property.
Christian Engel will depart soon for a trip to his former hometown in Germany. He arrived in the United States forty five years ago and has not returned to his childhood scenes in all that time. He maintains many relatives in Germany and keeps in touch with them through correspondence and by reading a newspaper published there.
Among the guests were J. N. Simmons George Ertsinger Frank Myers William Wagner Edward Yant Aaron Stutsman Charles C. Riggle and about twenty others. Music feasting and dancing were enjoyed until a late hour.
David Garringer who has long endured epilepsy fell in a tit at about 5 oclock this morning and again this afternoon after dinner. His condition is viewed with alarm due to attacks becoming more frequent. Wilbur Fuller of Goshen and Mr Doty of Kokomo have leased rooms on the Werner building second floor and will start manufacturing proprietary medicines. Mrs Margaret Deardorff remains in a serious condition at her daughter Mrs Frank Silsbee’s home in Marshall Michigan. Mrs Alice Poorbough is in Marshall attending her mother.
Burglais tried to gain entry to N. D. Mock’s North Webster store but was frightened away. Citizens are forming a fund to purchase blood bounds.
An unusual scene unfolded on Main Street with a load of old-fashioned hickory hoop poles. The hoop pole era appears nearly extinct in Northern Indiana as witnesses note its rarity.
The Samaritan fair at Hoffman hall drew about 500 attendees and runs through the week. Charles F. Waltz delivered a widely applauded speech as Elkhart police investigate a store burglary later traced to a previous night.

The Chicago Record shows a photo of a new Illinois theatre rising on Jackson Boulevard near Michigan Avenue. It will open October 1 1900 with Barbara Frietchie starring Julia Marlowe. Management includes Al Hayman Klean and Erlanger Frohman and Chicago figures Powers and Davis.
David Belasco and company appear at the Irwin Friday with The Heart of Maryland a drama praised by New York Chicago Boston San Francisco and London critics. The production is described as realistic with a romantic episode of love rendered in dramatic phrases.
Heatvale Camp 4075 M W of A will host delegations from Milford Ligonier Elkhart South Bend and nearby towns at a Thursday banquet in K of P hall on Jan 18. South Bend and Elkhart Woodmen will ride in on a special interurban car.
The rear room occupied by Burnstein Cigar is leased by Tiedemann & Son for a new department. An arch is cut between rooms and partitions and shelving are installed. The department will open next week.

Goshen and Indiana Traction Company receives city franchise with a 25 year limit, electric operation, single track, and council approval after amendments. Board notes include extra bill approvals for Hatch & Sons and license bonds, plus municipal street and crossing conditions and December receipts.
