Five Indictments Post Grand Jury Report in Elkhart Court
Nearly all county jail inmates appeared in Judge Ferrall's court as the grand jury returned five indictments, including for murder by Ara Sylvester Strine and theft by Ackley, Darling, Frankfort, Vickery, and Menaugh. Strine pleaded not guilty and faced defense costs and appointed counsel. Other cases include divorce actions for Deahl & Deahl and Dart, Arndt v Arndt, and Simonton will probate with executor Lawrence R. Simonton. The grand jury also examined county jail, farm, and city prison reports. Wabash detectives continue depot robbery inquiries with no arrests yet.

Logan Taken to Country Home After Freight Train Injury
David Logan, injured weeks ago when struck by a Big Four freight engine at the North Main street crossing, has been moved from his brother Daniel Logan’s home to his own residence four miles north of Goshen. He has been very restless but is gradually gaining strength since yesterday.

Promoters Claim Secured Right of Way for South Bend to Indiana Harbor Line
Bryson and Osgood report in Michigan City that the right of way between South Bend and Indiana Harbor is practically secured and bonds for construction have been sold in New York. They say $1,000,000 will be needed to complete the railroad and that construction will occur this year.

Young Goshen Teens Run Lifting Tour At Fair and Drug Store
Two Goshen youths aged 14 and 16, with companions, robbed the Fair store and a drug store in the city business district. They were caught pilfering noz zles buckles and related items valued near a dollar, escaped through a rear door, and may face court action as officers pursue others involved.

Dr. Jackson recalls Goshen’s early livery and sale trade starting with Frederick Funk who ran a small horse trade on Lincoln avenue. Elkhart Republicans endorse Brown in district race
The Elkhart county Republican meeting named Walter Brown as district chairman candidate and chose delegates to South Bend. D. W. Neidig was elected chairman of the local committee with Edward Kelly as vice chairman and Thomas A. Davis as secretary. Delegates from Elkhart township and Concord township were chosen, and Brown’s candidacy was endorsed with plans to secure support in forthcoming district events.
