Judge Andersen refused to grant an injunction blocking the Elkhart and St. Joseph Power company from completing a dam on the St. Joseph river between Elkhart and Mishawaka. Work continues amid severe weather with a large crew.
Thieves bold during fuel shortage break into William Montine’s barn between Tenth and Eleventh Streets and steal a full cord of wood. Two suspects tracked in snow to Madison Street. a new butcher knife left behind. Other wood thefts target B F Toms at Ninth and Jefferson and attempts on Mrs Anne Fausehh’s supply. Officials warn to secure coal sheds and wood houses.
Last night heavy snow began about 11 o clock and continued into the morning. Citizens note a fine foundation for drying and plan cautious travel. The disruption affected post offices and local traffic in the region.
The Carnegie library in Goshen will be formally dedicated Thursday evening January 15. The simple local program is not complete and invitations are open to the public.
