Lifelong LaPorte Editor Killed in Illinois Train Tragedy
R A Hughes formerly editor and part owner of the LaPorte Bulletin was killed Wednesday night in Staunton Illinois. An Anderson man, he had recently returned to Anderson after leaving LaPorte about a year ago and had been touring with an Uncle Tom's Cabin company. The report notes Hughes was killed by falling under a train. Separate item states Charles Flowers was moving household effects when a runaway team demolished dishes and furniture. the horses also collided with Peter Cayton's house while being captured.
