Henry Ford, head of Ford Motor Co, will move ahead with building a 12 million dollar smelter on the Detroit river. Three circuit judges in the injunction case brought by the Dodge Brothers Co accepted a 10 million dollar bond to protect the Dodge concern from loss.
Indianapolis January 6 Gov elect Goodrich appointed Harry B. Smith of Indianapolis a former brigadier general of the Indiana national guard as adjutant general of the guard. He will succeed Franklin L. Bridges next Monday. The position pays 2250 dollars per year.
In Chicago on January 6 the U S district court denied a petition by 28 railway companies operating in Illinois to stop the Illinois state public utilities commission from enforcing the two cent fare law.
Columbus Indiana January 6 Special owner editor H S Dixon says high print paper costs force suspension of the Hope Daily News Journal after this week, ending daily publication temporarily.

McDowell administrator of John E. McDowell estate with a $6000 bond. Edith O Wise sues for divorce from Edward B Wise with custody of two children amid cruelty allegations. The Ice & Fuel Co of Elkhart sues W H Joel W a ad Fred Russell proprietors of St Joe Ice Co for 999.05 due under a January 29 1916 contract. Judge Drake held juvenile court session disposing of one case. The defendant reportedly was in Michigan.
A coroner's jury in Vandalia Michigan investigates the death of Beds Belden four year old daughter of Mrs Jessie Belden of Vandalia formerly of Lagrange county. No foul play is alleged though two hours of illness raised questions about the death certificate. The policy of $1 000 tied to the child's death is on hold until the cause is established. Mr Belden died in Lagrange county and Mrs Belden inherited a $10 000 farm.
Rev. W. P. Minton of the First Christian church will close his work here Sunday and begin a new evangelistic assignment Monday. Communion is planned Sunday morning followed by farewell services in the evening.
The Anti Tuberculosis society will meet Tuesday evening at Goshen hospital to elect officers for the coming year and read the annual report. All members are urged to be present.

Emma Miller and Ralph Jenness were brought to Goshen by Sheriff Sanford after a South Bend arrest tied them to the theft of expensive clothing from the Hudson store before Christmas. Esther Miller, 20, released after police inquiry, acted under Jenness and may face involvement charges. Emma could plead guilty.

An overheated furnace caused extensive smoke damage at the residence of Mr and Mrs Dow at 204 South Sixth street Gorham. The fire department responded and extinguished the blaze. The Davises who own the property had leased it to Mr Gorham for the winter.
