English Lutheran Church Elects Officers at Annual Meeting
The First English Evangelical Lutheran church held its annual meeting on Wednesday evening January 2. Reports from the pastor treasurer secretary and various church groups were encouraging and urged loyalty. Officers elected include deacons Geo Wehmeyer John Hrockmeyer W A Hill J W Shiffer for two years and others for one year. Trustees named Chas McConaughy C D Tiedemann and C Q O Charlton for one year. Installation set for Sunday morning with a sermon on their work.

At the missionary board meeting Rev. Albert Ogle of Indianapolis was re elected superintendent of missions and Mrs Leslie was elected to head the women's department. Canal Street Bridge Opens West 100 Feet
The Canal street bridge over the hydraulic is completed and the street opens 100 feet west. The bridge, funded by the Hawks, the city and private subscriptions, will be city maintained as a compromise with the Hawkies. Council will consider the matter Monday evening. Miss Cora B. Dale of this city, now in Chicago, has written a vaudeville skit to be produced at the Chicago opera house soon. Her musical compositions are popular in Chicago and used widely. The new skit is in rehearsal.

Mrs Mary Shisler Dies After Cancer Battle In Syracuse
Mrs Mary Shisler 48 died at 2 45 this morning at the Werner home on North Sixth Street after suffering a cancer and other illnesses. She formerly lived in Middlebury and came for a surgical operation which was not performed. Funeral will be Sunday at 2 pm from Clinton Street German Baptist church with Rev Issac Berkey officiating. She leaves a husband and daughter Reda 13. Infant son of Mr and Mrs John Manahan died this morning. interment Oak Ridge Cemetery this afternoon.
