Train Struck Auto in New York City Area Crash

Fatal Mishawaka collision at Main street crossing
Two men riding in a Studebaker coupe were killed when a freight train struck their car near the Main street crossing of the New York Central tracks in Mishawaka shortly after midnight Saturday. Joseph Bianchi, 23, of Mishawaka, died at the scene or en route with internal injuries. Piccilletti died at the hospital. Conductor Rhinehart and engineer Bremen were aboard the train.

Two Women Killed by Train in Cromwell Indiana
Mrs. Lillian Franks, 65, and daughter Edith Franks, 35, both of Albion, were killed at Cromwell station when they stepped onto a freight train while waiting for a passenger train. Witnesses said they crossed in front of the passenger train and became tangled with the freight on parallel tracks. The coroner opened an investigation into possible irregular train operations on opposite tracks. Surviving daughters include Mrs. Edna Kowes, Mrs. Ellen Vanderburg, and Mrs. Eph Sabinter. Burial was set for Albion.
