In Princeton Indiana on December 28 H E Agar meets with H E McGary about forgery charges and bond over missed court dates. He admits smoking to calm nerves and fears civil suits may follow while his son Asa travels to San Benito to manage affairs.
In Charlottsville Indiana on December 28 a crippled son Herman accidentally shot himself. A daughter died under the parental roof, and George was bedridden with a fractured ankle. Mrs Bundy died in September after a lingering illness leaving three children. Henry fell to typhoid fever affecting his mind and is to be placed in an asylum. Mr Bundy, about 45, is a laborer.
Indianapolis dispatch reports the annual dinner for former Indiana University students will be held at the Denison hotel on Wednesday evening December 30. President Swain of Swarthmore College will be toastmaster. E P Bicknell, Red Cross manager. Lt Governor Elect Frank J Hall. W A Mills of Hanover. and W L Bryan of Indiana University will respond to toasts.
In Clay City Indiana the prisoner Charlie Naugelbach escaped by leaping from a train moving about twenty miles per hour near Brazil after bondsman refused further payment. The city marshal continued to Brazil with another passenger and left the escapee behind.
Bloomington reports George Spillbeiler died of heart failure caused by excitement after a day’s hunting near Richland Chapel. He was found dead in bed Christmas morning after visiting Bloomington from St. Louis. The note is followed by a second item: Jeffersonville records more than twenty eloping couples married by justices of the peace on Christmas Day and the preceding two days.
