Attempt to Burn Stores in Mishawaka
An overnight arson attempt targeted the Fred Stoeckberger meat and provision shop and the Heiner Rohleder grocery in a two story block. Fires started in three places including beside a gasoline reservoir but were extinguished before ignition spread. Much stock was stolen and authorities suspect thieves aimed to conceal the crime by burning the building.

Shot By Her Sister In Accidental Farmhouse Tragedy
Chloe Smith a 16 year old daughter of farmer Henry Smith of Union township Whitley county was accidentally shot in the head by her sister Effie while removing a shotgun from the kitchen. The hammer struck the door jamb and discharged as Chloe stood by the dresser. The shot pierced the skull between the back center and right ear. recovery chances are slender.

Horse breaks buggy shafts in city incident
This morning Dr H K Lemons horse hitched at his East Lincoln avenue office walked along the lawn edge and when the wheel struck the curb the horse pulled the buggy around the hitching post. The shafts broke off while the shafts themselves showed no damage and the horse, though gentle, was tied too long enabling it to coil around the post.

Former Goshen Boy Fred Pfeiffer Injured in Spokane Hotel Fire
