Fatal gas explosion kills two in Coraopolis home
In Pittsburg on December 27 Maggie 14 and Elaie 10 daughters of Henry Bryan died after a gas leak from an outhouse stove was ignited by a light. Harry Bryan 24 was severely burned and may die. their mother and two other children were injured as the house burned but was saved.

Aviator Morok Falls In Attempted Flight From Guttenburg
Belgian aviator Frank Morok who had only three flights tried to fly from Guttenburg New Jersey to Columbus Circle New York opposite the Hotel Plaza. After 700 feet he crashed into Sullivan's Road House on Bergen Line Avenue and Thirty Ninth Street. He escaped with serious bruises and no broken bones. Morok previously raced bicycles and performed looping acts under the name Diavolo.

Hoxsey Breaks World Altitude Record in Pasadena Flight
Arch Hoxsey, before 75 060 spectators in Los Angeles, rose to 11 474 feet, beating Le Cagneux's Pau mark. He faced a 40 mph wind that wrecked Latham's monoplane, and was carried 20 miles by wind to Venice by the Sea before landing in a series of spirals. The crowd cheered wildly.

Pastor Bitten Nose and Finger in Church Fight

Wiggam knocks out Parker in Terre Haute boxing card
Howard Wiggam of Indianapolis knocked out Kid Parker of St Louis in the seventh round here. Parker was substituted for Jack Watts of Philadelphia and Watts refused to go on. Fortville Kid Brown drew with Young Jack Grim in six rounds. Brown outweighed Wiggam by twenty five pounds. Parker outweighed Wiggam by fifteen pounds but Wiggam prevailed decisively.

In Weston West Virginia on December 27 a posse captured William Furby a Black man accused of assaulting Flora Angelin daughter of a prominent farmer. Furby tried to flee on a stolen horse but the horse fell breaking his shoulder blade making capture easy. Officials declared the prisoner safe from mob action.
