Pittsburg Kan Dec 24 District officials ordered Kansas miners to return to work this afternoon in response to protests over the jail sentence of union president Alexander Howat. Howat communicated by telephone with officers, and announced that central and local strikes would be addressed by the district board Friday. About 1000 miners remained on strike, idling six mines.

A Hudson sedan owned by Robert Hudson and driven by his daughter Estee Hudson and a Ford owned and driven by Jerry Sayeer collided about one oclock this afternoon in front of the Harris Oppenheim residence on South Seventh street. No one was injured. The Hudson car was southbound when a westbound from an alley turned onto Seventh street striking its left rear wheel and causing extensive damage to both vehicles.
Ernest Shireman aged 36 a window trim man died by his own hand near his residence in Muncie after an all night disappearance. The body was found at the rear of his home. Survived by his wife and infant child.
Joseph Virgo of South Bend will be arraigned on murder charges. Attorney Glenn Warner said testimony by Mrs. Sarah Tabor, Maude Valor's mother, that Virgo performed an illegal operation helped complete the state case. Mrs. Tabor, 80, is charged as an accessory after the fact.
Reverend N E Smith resigns from the Cromwell M E church pastorate and will move to Walrusua for a higher salary. The notice notes his departure and new post with increased compensation.
Gen Tasker Bliss of the American peace delegation arrived in Washington from Paris asserting Europe must pool its food supply and create distribution under a director general. He urged including Germany in the economic coalition and warned Russia exclusion would deny any stable postwar framework.
