Detroit officials investigate the origin of a smallpox case in Genevieve Sullivan the 6 year old daughter of contractor John H. Sullivan living at 624 Second Avenue. The child was sent to a smallpox hospital and has been kept away from St. Peter and Paul cathedral school on Parsons Street. This is the only known case in Detroit.
