William Carter a 23 year old African American alleged by Kendallville police to be part of a gang that robbed a New York Central detective on November 24 died in a Toledo hospital from injuries suffered in a fight after the gang divided spoils. Carter had sought help at Kendallville police headquarters weeks earlier after the incident in New York Central yards.
