Henry Clay Barnabee, 84, once famed comic opera comedian, died at his Jamaica Plain home. He was known to extregoers as the Sheriff of Nottingham in DeKoven’s Robin Hood. He belonged to the prominent Boston company with Tom Karl, William B H MacDonald, Jessie Bartlett Davis, Marie Stone, Geraldine Almar, and Eugene Cowels as associates.

Gen Perrying reports Howard C. Stahl, a field artillery wagoner with the American Expeditionary Forces in France, died December 14 from measles complicated by pneumonia. His father Elmer G. Stahl, of Sidney Indiana in Kosciusko county.

John A. Miller, 69, died yesterday of pneumonia at his daughter’s home in Clinton township. Survived by three sons George A. of Polo SH, Harvey I. of Goshen, William A. of Elkhart. one daughter Mrs. Phillips. two sisters. nine grandchildren. A Berkey church member, funeral set for 10:30 a.m. tomorrow with Revs. I L. Berkey and John Weaver officiating.
Mrs. Lucinda A. Binz aged 77 died suddenly at her 609 Center Street residence from paralysis and age infirmities. She had lived in Goshen for some time and is survived by three daughters Mrs Thomas Cook of Lake Charles Louisiana and Mrs Philip Allman and Mrs James Hines of Goshen, two sons William Binz of Elkhart and George Binz of Cincinnati, and seven grandchildren.
Marion F Pearson of Ligonier moved his family to Hazelhurst Mississippi after trading his Ligonier grocery to G G W French for a farm there. French has taken possession of the grocery. The move aims to benefit Pearson’s seriously ill son.
South Bend man Tony Kohler threatened to kill his wife after she testified he tore and stomped on an American flag and spit on it. She had displayed the flag in their home window, prompting her arrest.

Herbert H. Gortner is appointed food administrator for Elkhart County. The selection is made by H. E. Barnard, head of the Indiana Food Admin. The announcement notes Gortner will oversee county food controls and distribution under state guidance.

J Frank Baker a truck farm operator in West Goshen has been appointed night patrolman by Chief Chrisman to fill the unexpired term of the late Vinton V Knapp. Baker covers the south beat and in 1916 was the democratic nominee for representative from the county.
Mrs. William Murphy who shot and killed her husband in South Bend may go free as reports describe him as a drunkard who tried to kill her. The note adds job opening for an experienced stenographer with good wages at Davis-Bournonville Co. in Elkhart, Ind.

Registrants today began filling out questionnaires mailed Saturday by Deputy Sheriff Martin. A committee of attorneys is at the courthouse daily to provide free services assisting registrants in answering the many questions.
