Schafer who was attacked two weeks earlier and robbed of cash a gold watch chain four rings and a diamond is receiving a whitecap letter demanding he leave the city or face death. The note mailed in South Bend targets Wesley Cook alleged highwayman with Frank Herrice killed during a burglary as officers traced Cook in Goshen.

Death of Daniel Replogle in Elkhart County
Daniel Replogle of Middlebury township died after a six hour illness of paralysis on a Saturday afternoon. He was found near Jesse S. Cripe’s place and transported to his brother’s home before passing away unconscious at 11 o’clock. Survived by four sons and four daughters, eleven grandchildren and four brothers, the pioneer Replogles of Elkhart county. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at Pleasant View church with Rev. Harvey J. Schrock officiating, interment at Pine Creek cemetery.
