Washington hosts a brief session as the sixth congress fifteenth convenes at noon today. The gathering marks the start of a compact legislative period with lawmakers assembling in the capital to address early agenda items and set timelines for forthcoming measures.

Congressman Cullop of Indiana opposes placing an embargo on food stuffs and predicts the president would veto such a measure. He says an embargo would be disastrous to American manufacturers and to farmers and others.
Henry N. Ford and W. E. Harris of Chicago are held in Elkhart custody after driving a stolen Ford bought for 350 to Cleveland. They knocked down a dummy policeman at Main street and Lexington avenue, sped away on two wheels, and crashed into Paul Bros. Furniture store plate glass. They paid 20 in damages while police plan an inquiry.
Chester Tock and Ruth Rohrer both of New Paris were united in marriage by Rev J Cook Graham at St Mark's M E church in this city. They honeymoon in Cleveland and Wooster, Ohio, and will reside in New Paris where Mr Rock is a mason.
Sunday school at Brethren church drew 564 attendees. Evangelist Bell reported eight converts during the services yesterday.

Halifax Canada December 4 The Dominion naval department orders vessels in Canadian waters to use only lights deemed absolutely necessary for safety as precaution against German submarines reported to plan wide raids on the Atlantic coast and along the St Lawrence river route.
Amsterdam dispatch reports that on November 30 a revolt in Antwerp left 200 to 300 inhabitants dead and many German soldiers killed. The uprising followed a call for residents to work for Germany, according to two Belgians who arrived in Holland from Ghent.
Frank Galvin of Indianapolis, an auto driver injured in races at Uniontown speedway Saturday, is dying in a Youngstown hospital. Other injured were discharged this morning.
Cleveland women launched a six weeks boycott on butter and eggs to curb rising living costs. Mayor Davis was asked to issue a general proclamation supporting the protest.
By Associated Press, two inmates died in the state penitentiary after electrocution. Domnick Digisco, 18, from Pottsville, confessed to killing an ice cream peddler and Santislaus Woceskoske of Beaver County, who killed a countryman, were executed at the same time.
The Hague December 4 Associated Press reports Dr Henry Van Dyke resigns from his post as American minister to The Netherlands. He previously served as a diplomat and literary figure.
Elias Hildebride a longtime county resident aged 82 died suddenly at his home 411 North Lee after a two week pneumonia illness. He served in two Civil War enlistments and belonged to Howell Post No 90. He and wife Lavina observed their 50th wedding anniversary October 25. Surviving are wife, daughter Cora, son George of Niles Michigan, step son Frank Leibole, step-daughter Mrs. D P Calvin, brother George of Elkhart, grandson Ralph Hildebride and great grandson of Goshen. Funeral tomorrow at 2 pm from residence and 2:30 pm at Finglish Lutheran Church with Rev Keehley. burial Oak Ridge.
Funeral services for Milton Werte were held at his home in Elkhart yesterday afternoon and burial was in Grace Lawn cemetery, Elkhart. Werte, a New York Central carpenter, died when a speeder he rode near Gibson was struck by a Michigan Central train.

The case of George W. Blake of Goshen against Sheet Metal Specialty Co of Goshen is on trial in the Elkhart Superior Court before Judge Harman and a jury. Blake sues for unpaid salary as traveling salesman while the defendant counters alleging a fraudulent contract.

Mr and Mrs Avery of Constantine Michigan were seriously hurt when a car overturned on the Bristol road three miles east of Eukhart. The Cooks of Three Rivers escaped uninjured. The Averys, over 60, had rib and wrist injuries and were taken to Constantine hospital.

Archie A. Hill a Fort Wayne teamster died in a local hospital after a Thanksgiving Day hunting accident. He was shot by longtime friend Frank Yager during a rabbit hunt with two other men. The incident occurred while the foursome were in the field.

Mrs. Orville Kiser of Elkhart returns home from Llano Grande Texas where she visited her husband a private in Co F Third regiment Indiana National Guard stationed on the border. Indiana troops today leave the border for Camp Benjamin Harrison Indianapolis.

Mrs Eliza Stuart aged about 90 died at her daughter Mrs J B Parritt s home in Elkhart after a short illness of pleurisy and lung congestion. Funeral services were held at the Parritt home officiated by Rev E W Praetorius of the First Evangelical church. Burial followed in Bourbon. She was born in Ireland December 16 1826 and came to America as a child. She lived in Bristol before moving to Elkhart fourteen years ago. Her husband William Stuart died August 17 1899 and is buried at Bourbon. Surviving are four sons and three daughters.
Russell Schwenk of near No Manchester died from injuries from a corn shredder accident when a belt broke. He was thrown to the barn floor and suffered a fractured skull.
Joti Haskins, 50, is missing from his Niles Michigan home after leaving on November 20 saying he would go to Michigan City. He was last seen in La Porte on November 21.
