Hiram M Daniel died after being struck by a New York Central train at the First Street crossing this morning. The incident occurred as the victim attempted to cross in or near the crossing area, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
A long time Go shen resident and crossing watchman, Mirgue Me Pyenied McDaniel, was killed at the First Street crossing when struck by a west bound New York Central freight train. The 26 year Go shen veteran had been temporarily employed to fill John Booker’s vacant post. Survived by his wife and four stepchildren, the tragedy marks the third crossing fatality in under five years. Witnesses and section men aided the injured, and the body was taken to the mortuary for burial preparations.

The Johnson resort orchestra that provided music for the dancing pavilion at Johnson's Buttermilk Point blew up on Monday and returned to Chicago. Mr Johnson has hired an Elkhart musical organization for the rest of the season and promises old fashioned dances as the resort closes mid October.
Rev. E A Vannuys of the First Presbyterian church will preach his final sermon here prior to retiring from the pulpit. He will assume the secretaryship of the Men’s Organization of the Presbyterian Church U S. The Vannuys family plans to move to Chicago soon.
It is expected that by spring 100 employees will be at work in the Highway Iron Products company factory at Tigonter. The concern is prospering and entering a growth phase.

Bitner and Chaplain E A Shultz on the program. Dinner was served at Howell Post G A R hall, noon. This afternoon O Q Somer, past commander in chief, and W F Medsker of Cambridge City state commander, delivered addresses.
The Brittany coast from Lorient to surrounding bays was littered with wreckage after a severe storm. A lifeboat and debris from an American merchant ship washed ashore near Locqué Lcoat, with the vessel's name unreadable. The storm was easing today.
The church will hold a regular morning service tomorrow with flag removal of the 59 stars and a baptism for children plus reception of new members. Hess of Columbus Ohio, and Ella Woodrow Hess of South Carolina.
A Society Branch aircraft will fly from Chicago to Ligonier carrying a consign ment of clothing for Jacob Sheets of Ligonier. The plane is due to land at Cochran Field opposite Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier on Wednesday September 3 at 10 30 p m.
