The Elkhart County Fair begins tomorrow with no gate admission on opening day. About seventy five race horses will compete in speed contests including Billy M in the exhibition mile. Billy M. also stars in the pacing and trots events with noted track records at Go Shen Fair.
The annual Niklas county fair opens tomorrow and continues Friday with no admission fee on opening evening. Gates charge 25 cents on Wednesday and Friday, grand stand card tables 25 cents, and high rides 25 cents. An exhibition mile featuring Bilis Afowhe is planned, with 7 races on the program. Demonstrations include two machines from Bates Co of Lansing and International Harvester Co of Chicago, center-field shows, and a 1916 model auto giveaway Friday. Bands include Wakarusa, Goshen City, Rogers’ Goshen, and Conn’s Trumpet Notes of Elkhart Meantime the N Y Central runs dummy trains Thursday and Friday, round trip 20 cents. Large attendance expected with good weather.
Bo-Wash Gravel Co of Elkhart incorporated with capital of 50000 dollars. Be-Wash Gravel Co filed articles with Recorder Winterhoff. Incorporators Walter Brown Beryl Tousier-Brown Ernest Skinner and Bertha Skinner. Company acquired land along the Elkhart river near Division street in Elkhart.
Charles Kiower of Bremen and Fred Hebling of Fikhart were arrested in South Bend for driving their cars on the wrong side of the street car track. They posted bonds.
The Studebaker Corporation of South Bend secured a $500,000 contract with the Roussian government for wagons specially designed for mountain terrain.

In Akrokomo on August 36 a car crash left seven year old Perkins Perkins dead. Mrs Perry Wikel and Nellie Jamison were injured and Mr and Mrs David Jamison were badly hurt with uncertain recoveries. Perry Wikes and Ehiey Jamison suffered severe bruises as witnesses described the incident yesterday.

A large barn on Chauncey Berkey’s farm west of Middleville burned this forenoon. No one was near the buildings. the family escaped. About 606 men fought the blaze but all other structures burned. only a harrow survived. Loss estimated at 1600 dollars with 1000 dollars insured.
Jesse S. Cripe of Moses Bartholomew homestead Jefferson township fell eighteen feet while working on a barn roof this forenoon injuring his hip. Doctors Scapp and Ash from the city attended him at the scene near the cement silo foundation. Medical authorities believe there are no internal injuries and he is expected to recover.
Eli Bushong, lifelong Syracuse resident and Civil War veteran, died at home yesterday after a long illness including paralysis and heart failure. Survived by his wife, two sons Veen and Wilbhun, and a stepdaughter Mrs. Alice Tripp of Vibary. Funeral services set for 2:50 p.m. tomorrow at the Syracuse AB church.
Ian Ye J Dickerman, formerly of Goshen, was buried in Oak Ridge cemetery this forenoon. He died last Thursday in Benton Harbor Michigan and arrived on the Bic Four. Rev H Robert Smith conducted the grave service. Dickerman was a traveling salesman and lived at 115 South Seventh Street in property owned by Mayor Spohn. the family moved from Goshen more than 30 years ago.
The eighth annual Berkey family reunion gathered 106 members from Elkhart county at Rock Run church in Clinton township last Saturday. After a life dinner, the program featured addresses music and readings. The next reunion will occur the last Saturday in August 1916 at the same venue. Officers elected were President Chauncey Berkey Middlebury secretary Miss Mabel Kurtz Goshen and Treasurer Morris Kurtz Goshen.

Frank Tobias, 43, of Warsaw, lost both legs in a Fort Wayne rail accident while attempting to board a westbound freight. He was found beside the tracks by a Pennsylvania freight crew and rushed to St. Joseph's hospital in critical condition. Tobias had recently traveled to Fort Wayne with James Hoover, who later faced arrest on unrelated intoxication accusations.
A NYCS speeder long in service was hit by the Goshen bound G M Branch train near the local station. Eyewitness tip said youths had stolen the speeder from Tacseae roi and rode it along the tracks before abandoning it as the train approached. Officials continued efforts to identify the youths as repairs began on the wrecked unit.

Five week old Moore Uillian Jelle of Elk hart Virginia avenue died Sunday from cholera infantumn. Barbara Penrod wife of Jesse Penrod died of apoplexy at Redfield farm six miles north of Elkhart. Robert Burton Landaw five weeks old son of Burt Landaw died at 806 South Sixth street. Funerals set for Tuesday. locations include Oak Ridge cemetery.
The Ulery family reunion gathered 180 attendees at Blosser park on a Saturday. Ed Ulery of Napanee gave the welcome address, with games and a dinner. Distant relatives attended from Dixon Illinois Chicago Plymouth Bourbon Nappanee and Syracuse. Descendants of John and Mary Ulery who immigrated from Cambria County Pennsylvania in 1852 featured prominently. Officers listed include President Anna Ulery Secretary Mina Price and Treasurer Edith Waugaman. A residence property in the factory district is for sale by Wm. Smith at 517 So 10th Street and rent offers for a central house noted by Dr Kreager.

The Big Four carried 53 excursionists to Benton Harbor and 1% to Indianapolis. Last specials of the 1915 season are expected next Sunday as cold weather trims business and profit.
Society notes report the marriage of James S. Cook of Glenn Kentucky to Miss Ethel M. Moore of Nappanee. Also Henry F. E. Morningstar of Goshen weds Miss Pearl Loucks of Wakarusa. Mrs George Richardson plans a birthday party for her daughter Marian with a gathering of children on Wednesday afternoon.
