Earl Grey former governor general of Canada died after a long illness in London on August 29. The funeral will be held at Howick on Saturday. Described by Lord Strathcona as a statesman and philanthropist he influenced South Africa through Rhodesia administration and the Rhodes scholarships. Born November 25 1851 he became a lawyer and MP in 1880 then governor general of Canada in 1904.
