Fire destroys Cory barn near Milford in misread alarm
A barn and its hay oats were burned at Lincoln Cory's farm four miles east of Milford around 11 am. The loss ranged 500 to 800 dollars insured. A shed and chicken house also burned while the house was saved. Cory, a rural mail carrier, was away when sparks from nearby field burning stumps started the blaze. Neighbors mistook the feeding noon bell for mealtime and did not respond. Cory is a noted poultry breeder, prize winner at local shows.
