Indiana militia troops remain quiet at Hammond near Standard Steel Car Co. plant awaiting homeward orders after strike actions last week. Guards quartered in a large factory complex with Fort Benjamin Harrison cot beds and a field hospital prepared for possible action.
Samuel T. Ansell formerly acting judge advocate general testified before a Senate military subcommittee that the propaganda bureau did not exist to discredit military justice nor to defend the system. He named Secretary Ticker Major General Enoch Crowder and Col Jota H. Wigmore as critics of the claim. The hearing followed reports that the bureau aimed to influence public opinion on military justice matters.
Hammond August 26 special report says no agreement has been reached between strikers and Standard Steel Car Co. There have been no outbreaks.
A 1,000,000 gallon reservoir and tank are planned in Mishawaka for the public water supply. The new equipment aim to improve water delivery and system reliability.

Fort Wayne led to two arrests after eight quarts changed hands for 52 dollars. William Maxwell sold the whiskey to Frank MecCarnahan, and the case carried unpleasant consequences.

Hugh Sansters, six, son of Mr and Mrs Ross Sansters of Eihinart, survived a fall from a second story window at his home. He sustained a fractured jaw but has improved enough that surgery is not deemed necessary at this time.
Peter J. Kruger of South Bend revenue collector will retire September 1. He will be succeeded by William L. Elder of Indianapolis. Kruger plans to move back to South Bend to reside after leaving office.
Alexander Keshitsuv aged 42 a former New York City employee at Esh hart died at Longcliffe where he had been brought about a year earlier after a physical and mental collapse following an operation.

Floyd Wilding Triggs, famed cartoonist formerly with the Chicago Tribune and later connected with New York City papers, died suddenly in Stamford Connecticut. He lived in Darien and was visiting there for the summer. His widow and two sons survive.

Bert Brocus, 32, of Buchanan Michigan, drowned while bathing in Lake Michigan at Michigan City. Edward Gerlack of Chicago Heights attempted a rescue but Brocus sank after a struggle.
