The 43rd annual Elkhart County Fair opens Aug 31 and runs through Sept 4 at the former Lesh Stock Farm grounds. Officials boast rising entries, more tents and concessions, stronger racing, and a re organized association backing an eight annual exhibition with a predicted big attendance and fair weather.

Petition Filed For Re Appraisal On Seventh Street Sewer
A petition signed by John H Got ham and 45 others was filed in the circuit court by L L Burris demanding a re appraisal of assessments and costs for the Seventh street sewer project prepared for paving next year. City officials defend the plan noting many owners already have sewer connections and object to a second assessment. The Seventh street sewer cost 3781 with costs apportioned between Goshen city and property owners on the east and west sides.

Five Thousand Bond Set in Roeder Murder Case
Otto Roeder, accused of killing Harry F Love a Wakarusa telegraph operator, faces a $5 000 bond after Judge Funk reduced the figure from 10 000. South Bend man dies after chloride of lime suicide attempt
John Nagy , proprietor of a sample room and a restaurant in South Bend , attempted death by his own hand shortly after noon Wednesday by swallowing a large quantity of chloride of lime in a glass of beer. He was found by his wife Lydia Nagy at the restaurant and died later at Epworth hospital. Financial and domestic troubles were believed to be the motive.
