A note ending with goodbye was found. The man she was with lived on East Pike street in Groshen. she had separated from her husband after his World War I enlistment.
Ruth Butter found 15 year old Thad Butter dead in Huntington home while attempting to scale a door with a Boy Scout rope. Doctors say death occurred about two hours before discovery due to strangulation from a rope noose. No family members were present at the time.
George Goodman a former New York Central railroad employee in Elkhart returned after over a year of service in France with a French war bride. She is Mademoiselle Gaillard Trene Is, the daughter of a French couple with whom Goodman was billeted.

Ariin Messick, today filed suit in the Eckhart Superior Court against Sanders Egbert Co. seeking $756.80 for 15000 feet of new timber delivered at the defendants' Goshen yards. Messick asks for a judgment of $1000.
Bert Grant of Warsaw, part owner of Brant & Beebe pool room, died suddenly at home from apoplexy after retirement. Born in Akron, Indiana, he had lived in Warsaw for 15 years.
Rev and Mrs E A Vannuys return from a month long camping vacation in Donaldson Wisconsin in the extreme north. Rev Vannuys will occupy the pulpit at the Presbyterian church Sunday morning.

Joseph Wendling, convicted of killing Alma Kellner in Louisville ten years ago, escaped from the Kentucky State Reformatory in Frankfort where he served a life sentence. Kellner's body had been found buried in a basement beneath a church building where Wendling worked as janitor before a nationwide search led to his arrest in San Francisco.

The War Department announced that American forces remaining in Germany after September 30 include the Eighth Infantry with 3,800 men, the Seventh Machine Gun Battalion, and additional units such as the Second Battalion of the Sixth Field Artillery, 35th Field Signal Battalion, First Supply Train, First Mobile Ordnance Repair Shop, Company A of the First Engineers, Field Hospital No. 13, and Ambulance Company No. 26. The total combatant strength is about 5,500, totaling nearly 7,000 officers and men across all included units.
