Berlin dispatch says a bill was submitted to the Prussian cabinet proposing 170,900,000 marks as a total settlement to former Emperor Wilhelm II for losses from his forced abdication. The cabinet has not decided, opposed by Agriculture Minister von Braun.
The Elkhart county committee failed to raise half the needed funds to keep County Agricultural Agent G. E. Metzger. With only 510 and no salary increase possible, Metzger will leave when his current contract ends in October, leaving a gap in local agricultural expertise.
Frank Vance eight resident of West Jeffer son Street was struck by a Ford roadster driven by U S Hostettler at Jefferson and Main streets. The boy suffered a scalp wound and brain concussion and was taken to the hospital unconscious. Hostettler had stopped for alighting passengers from a Winona interurban car when the lad darted into the road. The incident sparked rumors of fatality in the business district.
A head on crash between a street car and a Ford on West Franklin Street in Elkhart injured a five year old boy, Ed Thompson, who was thrown from the car into the street car vestibule. He and his father, Alex Thompson, were hospitalized with severe arm and thigh injuries and other cuts. The motorman, John Christthah, escaped serious harm though the car struck him. A bystander, Warner, suffered dental injuries. The incident arose as Warner attempted to cross the track ahead of the car.
Jacob Miller sells his Seventh and Pearl streets corner property to Alfred McClure and Frank Staub with possession in September. Miller also sells the Middlebury street residence to Mrs. Elizabeth Teeter for 1200 dollars. Hugh Newell to remodel the East Monroe street home recently bought from Jacob Leidner.
The eighth annual Redpath chanive qua for Goshen ends tomorrow night in the Chandler school lot at Cottage avenue and Monroe Eighth streets. Behumir Kryl, noted cornetist and bowlimuster, again drew large crowds and strong enthusiasm. Kryl first performed in Goshen in 1917 and returned in 1913 and 1914, marking this year as a popular event in the lens program.
General Pershing spent part of yesterday in Venice and then left for a tour of the battlefields and liberated region in Italy. The visit occurred around Rome with plans to inspect sites.
Mrs. Mahala Horn of Millersburg sold her house at 106 South Main Street through Albert Weaver to Calvin Rummel with possession given at once. For sale among listings: acres near Goshen with large building and heavy soil and 80 acres south of New Paris. Officers have located thieves who stole ten bushels of oats from C. F. Denning’s farm near Ligonier. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Claudden near Ligonier.
The jost office reports higher sales of government provisions with receipts of 410.84 dollars and 67.47 dollars in postage. Buyers purchased 6,527 pounds across fifty orders as the sale continues until Goshen’s allotment runs out. Mrs. Rolin Defrees of Reliance, Virginia visits sister Mrs. J V Morrice.

At arraignment before Justice Fryberger he waived examination and was bound over to the circuit court with a $1,000 bond signed by his step-father Wilson Rink. Mrs. McDowell works in Elkhart. the three children live in Goshen with grandparent Enos Cripe.
Arrangements set for a special commission at Meme City to hear both sides of the dispute over the Senator Munton Lagrange-Noble counties ditch law. Aug. 25 date cited. Opponents include Gene Stratton Porter, novelist, who warns the law's operation will cause great damage locally.

Marshall Howenstine a talented violinist plans to relocate to Chicago to finish his education. His parents Mr and Mrs Fred Howenstine will move to Chicago until he completes his training and he is expected to engage in chautauqua work.
The seven year old son of Samuel Eldridge in East Goshen fell about nine feet into a pit dug for a silo. The injury resulted in a broken wrist and was treated by Dr. Edmands who reduced the fracture. WARSAW Ind Aug 20 Special Thieves targeted crowds during Billy Sunday meetings at Winona Lake but Rev S Snyder escaped loss. A man from Mentone reported his car parked near the auditorium stolen later recovered after a police alert. Delegations from Atwood and Etna Green attended the sessions.
