Looting horse thieves in LaPorte tied to Elkhart case
LaPorte report identifies C Huffman and C D McDonough as two horse thieves linked to an Elkhart county theft last week. Sheriff Dykins of South Haven named them. Deputy Chatten had suspected them earlier. Sheriff Elliott hunts the missing horse and buggy with no trace found yet. Justice Young’s court records include fines for Canada thistles and trespassing. Mrs Carter seeks delinquent prison feeding pay from county for $400.

Henry Dick an early Goshen resident born in Stuttgart in 1829 died yesterday. He came to America in 1853 and settled in Goshen, marrying Magdaline Zimmer in 1857. they had seven children. Funeral at Trinity Lutheran Church Friday at 2 PM with Rev. C E Clesser officiating. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Boat wreck on Chautauqua lake claims one life
James A. Arthur awaited word from his daughter Mrs Thos Men at Chautauqua about a wreck in which two members of Rogers band and two women were upset in the lake but no details came. One woman drowned. the two band members were not Goshen residents, one named Yeagier of Warren Ohio and another an Elkhart man. City and Buffalo papers carried no notice of the accident.

Mysterious Shot Reported in Alley by Town Saloon Row
A mysterious shot rang out around 10 last night between Third and Main streets near West Lincoln Avenue. Several witnesses rushed to the scene but officers found no evidence or suspects. Goshen Democratic club met and adopted by laws and constitution with L B Noble as financial secretary and trustees Evans Peck Arthur Hamilton.

Attorney Sel C Wood tells Fort Wayne News the Goshen and Indiana Traction line will start Sept 1 and run 54 miles from Angola to Goshen. The route will follow lake shores and traverse Northern Indiana, aiming for a spring operation and strong New York financing. It will connect east and west with other lines but remain independent and profitable.

Chorus of 100 Voices forms at Elkhart

Goshen Boy Appointed Second Engineer in Pittsburg Plant
Clyde J. Williamson son of 8. A. Williamson formerly chief engineer and superintendent of Goshen water works has been named second engineer of the Pennsylvania Railroads Union Station at Pittsburg Pa. The plant is large and modern with electrical refrigerating and air compressing machinery. Williamson, still under age, required parental consent to accept the post. Many applications were filed for the job.

Lost Girl Freed Found After Rome City Excursion
Miss Pearl Freed, 15, daughter of Martin Freed of Ligonier, went to Rome City on the Lake Shore excursion train and did not return. Telephone inquiries reached the town as she was seen on the Goshen bound train. she later rode to South Bend with a gentleman friend, Mr. Shirk, and planned to return to Ligonier on the midnight train.
